Opening Night - San Antonio Symphony
I produced this impromptu video for the San Antonio Express-News, highlighting the opening night of the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in San Antonio, Texas. The new Tobin Center is famous for featuring some of the most advanced acoustics available in modern performance halls, and also for its robotic floor and ceiling, which allows for rapid configuration and versatility for hosting any type of event, from rock concerts, to symphony performances, to plays, and more. The building’s acoustics can be tuned on the fly to make any type of production sound its best.
This video was shot with a Panasonic AJ-PX270 P2 video camera, and all sound was recorded with an on-camera Sennheiser shotgun microphone. The music featured in the piece was recorded by the camera during the performance, from the back of the room. This shows not only how good the acoustics are in the hall, but also how powerful the 22X zoom lens of the PX270 is.
