Mendelssohn: Elijah

Mendelssohn’s Elijah is an oratorio depicting events in the life of the Biblical prophet, Elijah. Though modeled after the works of his Baroque predecessors Bach and Handel, the lyricism and use of orchestral and choral color in the piece clearly reflect Mendelssohn’s own genius. Its melodrama, easy appeal, and stirring choruses have made it a wildly successful masterpiece. Soloists Rebecca Nash, Kang Wang, and Steven LaBrie are joined by the Symphony Mastersingers to complete a wonderful evening of entertainment!
