2016-2017 Valero Classics Series
Maestro Lang-Lessing will open the season and the Classics series on September 16, 2016 with Orff’s powerful and climactic Carmina Burana, featuring the Symphony Mastersingers, the Children’s Chorus of San Antonio and terrific soloists including mezzo-soprano Susan Graham. The Valero Classics Series will feature 14 classical concerts with fabulously exciting works by some of the most acclaimed composers ever, such as Brahms’ monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 performed by Garrick Ohlsson, Tchaikovsky’s final symphony, the “Pathétique,” Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and the Poulenc Concerto in D minor for Two Pianos performed by piano duo Christina and Michelle Naughton.
