Sebastian Lang-Lessing, conductor
Liszt: Mephisto Waltz No. 1
R. Strauss: Don Juan
Wagner: Tannhäuser Overture and Bacchanale
Originally composed as a ballet, Bolero is Ravel’s most famous composition. With its exciting crescendos over an unchanging continuous rhythm, driving beat, and mechanical nature, Bolero was an instant success, and remains one of the most popular classical pieces today. Sebastian Lang-Lessing leads the orchestra in Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz No. 1, Strauss’ Don Juan, and Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture and Bacchanale in addition to the famous Bolero.
