Dvořák: Symphony No. 8
Dvořák’s eighth symphony is a beautifully cheerful and optimistic piece. It draws its inspiration from the Bohemian folk music that Dvořák loved, and was composed on the occasion of his election to the Bohemian Academy of Science, Literature and Arts. Accompanying Dvořák on the program is Bloch’s Schelomo: Rhapsodie hébraïque, solo by cellist Kenneth Freudigman, and Bernstein’s Candide.
