Elgar’s Cello Concerto is a lovely, simple piece, but with a profound underlying wisdom and beauty. Composed in the aftermath of World War I, it has become a cornerstone of the solo cello repertoire. Soloist Johannes Moser, one of the finest young virtuoso cellists, is known for his efforts to present classical music in ways with which listeners of all ages can engage and connect. He has a passionate focus on new music, a commitment to reaching out to young audiences, and a goal to expand the reach of the classical genre. Also featured on this program are Wagner’s Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin and Bruckner’s fourth symphony.
