Announcing the 2018 Symphony PRO-AM

The San Antonio Symphony invites novice and amateur instrumentalists in the community to participate in our 2018 Symphony PRO-AM, a unique opportunity to rehearse and perform side-by-side with Symphony musicians and under the direction of Music Director Sebastian Lang-Lessing.  Both services for this event will take place in the Tobin Center’s H-E-B Performance Hall Our featured repertoire for the collaboration this year is:

Dvořák Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “From the New World”

Important Dates [updated 9/17/18]:
Registration release date: Wed., Sept. 12, 2018, at 5:30 am
Deadline to apply:  Tues., Oct. 2, 2018, by 11:30 pm
Mandatory full rehearsal:  Fri., Oct. 26, 2018, 7:00 – 9:30 pm
Dress rehearsal and performance:  Sat., Oct. 27, 2018, 6:30 – 9:00 pm

To be considered for participation, applicants must be:

  1. age 22 or older,
  2. a Bexar County resident,
  3. NOT a full-time student,
  4. able to read music,
  5. capable of playing a standard orchestral instrument at at least a basic to intermediate level, AND
  6. own or have access to an instrument of the same type, which must be in good working condition and available to the applicant for his/her personal use in the event (with the exception of timpani & percussion).

Please read all information carefully.  Register early!! – as space is limited.  Confirmed participants will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee to the San Antonio Symphony in the amount of $50 and due at the time of confirmation.
