Presented in partnership with The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts
Explore the solar system while getting to know an orchestral masterpiece in detail: Gustav Holst’s famous symphonic suite The Planets. Written between 1914 and 1916, each movement of The Planets describes the mythological character for which the heavenly bodies were named. Join us as we delve into this out-of-this-world work! Students will also learn scientific information about each planet and experience visuals developed for concert presentation by NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. Be sure to have your K-6 students participate in The Planets Poetry Contest – winners will be invited to recite their work onstage!
