YPC Transportation Assistance Funding Program
Thanks to several generous funders, the Symphony provides nearly $30,000 in transportation assistance funding to local schools and districts attending Young People’s Concerts each season.
To apply for transportation assistance to attend a Young People’s Concert, simply check the appropriate box on the online concert reservation form coming soon. Transportation funding is available to public and charter schools only. Award notices are issued by email within 3-5 business days after submission of a reservation to attend a concert. Awarded amounts are determined by a number of factors, including agreements that may be in place with the respective school district, the estimated number of busses needed (taken from total attendee headcount), distance from the auditorium, and on a first come, first serve basis as reservations are placed and in terms of availability of funding. Transportation assistance funding is paid as a reimbursement or partial reimbursement after the date of a corresponding Symphony field trip and only upon submission of an invoice or field trip report showing the actual transportation costs incurred.
Other Transportation Funding Sources
All schools applying for transportation assistance funding are also strongly encouraged to apply to the Target Field Trip Grant Program. Several area schools have received grants through this program to attend Young People’s Concerts in recent years. Please note that the 2018-2019 application is only available between Aug. 1 and Oct. 1, 2018, and only applicable to 2019 field trip dates.
