Steve Peterson

Trombone, Principal

Steve Peterson is an active freelancer and teacher in the Dallas and San Antonio areas. In addition to performing with the San Antonio Symphony, Steve often performs with the Dallas Symphony and has also performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Detroit Symphony, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. Steve is adjunct professor of low brass at Richland College in Dallas where he performs with the Richland Faculty Jazz Ensemble. He has a Bachelor of Music in trombone performance from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University where he studied with John Kitzman.

Steve is a member of many chamber groups including DFW Brass, Bishop Arts Brass, and the Dallas Symphony “Yes” Brass Quintet. Previous to moving to Texas in 2011, Steve played in jazz and commercial ensembles on Princess Cruise lines, which allowed him to travel to Europe, Australia, Asia, South America, and the Caribbean.
